John
Galliano was born in 1960 in Gibraltar. He moved to London in
1966. He quickly began to show great talent and maturity, which
led to his graduation with a First Class Honours Degree in June
1984 from the famous Saint Martin’s School of Art. John Galliano
found his signature mark through strong and personal collections.
His first signature “Ludic Game” was an instant success. His sense
of elegance and his proud tender vision of women made him a very
popular designer. His life took a turn when he moved to Paris
in 1991. After winning over the French press and buyers esteem
with his own collections (Princess Lucretia, which was inspired
from Princess Lucretia’s escape from Russia S/S 1994 or A/W 1994
inspired from Kiki de Montparnasse), he became the designer for
Givenchy Ready to Wear and Haute Couture Collections from July
1995 until January 1997. There he captured the spirit of Givenchy.
Meanwhile, John Galliano continued developing his own image. The
John Galliano brand became stronger and stronger, and his inspiration
became more and more eclectic. In January 1997, John Galliano
became the new designer for Christian Dior, bringing his modern
and glamorous perception of woman to the famous Christian Dior
Institution. From this time on, he has worked with the same energy
and intensity on both John Galliano and Christian Dior Collections.
The new John Galliano collection A/W 2001 is a “High-Tech Romance”
– a combination of romance (a vision John Galliano has always
believed in) and high-tech modernity. The Galliano customer can
find a wide range of products in his signature line, including
Women’s Ready to Wear, Bags, Shoes, Scarves, Gloves, and more
recently, Sunglasses.
